Yesterday evening I was quietly sitting by our front window
that is located directly next to the front door. Looking back at it, I must have
looked like some sort of busybody neighbor sticking my nose to the glass
waiting to see what will happen. In reality though, I was waiting for the UPS
man to deliver a package to my house. This tasty package (that is going to make
my life fart rainbows and unicorns) is the temporary cardboard home of a brand
new laptop. An Acer Aspire.
As soon as I heard the rumble of the large ugly
brown van, I quickly ran to the cover of the door, just in case the man happen
to look in the window, no one is there. Thinking myself as a silent ninja, I
waited for my opportunity to pounce! As soon as the man approached the front
door, I quickly swung the door open, snatched the box from his hands, shouted “THANKS
MISTER!”, and just as quickly slammed the door back. I then took a moment to
glance in the peek hole to see what the expression on his face was like.
Now
that I have the laptop up and running, (I’m using it to write this!) I have begun
to wonder why I had such an urge to open the package up and play with it. And I
KNOW I am not the only one who always wants new tech toys. Maybe it’s because
we use our phones, and computers to try and reach out to each other, to hide
the fact that we are lonely sad sacks.
Or maybe it’s just laziness, wanting something
to make our lives easier and faster. I don’t know if I will ever know, but I do
know that I SO TOTALLY GAVE THAT UPS MAN A HEARTATTACK!!!!
Technology!
